Spring Time!

I thought this was such a cute and simple idea! Check it out at Auntie Lolo Crafts! You could use this idea for any holiday, or even do a monogram. I made a similar one using a canvas from the Dollar Store for St. Patrick's day with a Shamrock shape and green, white and black buttons.

What are you up to for Spring crafting?

50 Years Young

Party time! We hosted my mother-in-law's 50th birthday party at our house a little while back. For the decorations I found these paper lanterns at Pier 1 on clearance for $1.50 each (regular $12!). I got some old photos of her printed at Costco and stuck them in some frames from Ikea ($0.99 each) and added some buttons with Zots for a little embelishment on the frames.

(not the best pic......sorry!)

The meal turned out great! I have been loving my cookbook from Our Best Bites and everything came from there.

We had:

Green Salad

Cookie Pie with Ice Cream and Chocolate Sauce (I really like my recipe.....2 c. sugar with 1 can evaporated milk, 1 cup margarine and 1/2 cup cocoa......bring to boil and let simmer for 10 min....so good and easy!)

Yummm!

We finished off the night reading through a scrapbook I put together with my sister-in-law which was comprised of letters from family to my mother-in-law and pictures of her life! It was a great evening!

The Canvas Solution.....My Take On It

A few weeks ago I posted about buying some canvases and some possible ideas of what to use them for. Well, here is what I ended up doing (with Tess's help....okay, let's be honest, Tess did it all and I cheered her on while keeping the kids occupied!)

What you need:

-staple gun

-canvas

-enough fabric to cover and fold behind canvas

The finished product. I thought they turned out really well. Just a subtle addition, but a great way to add just that little something!

Its A Girl...Baby Shower

These were some cute ideas that my sister-in-law Whitney made for a baby shower for a good friend in our ward this week.  She got the idea for the cute rose balls from the blog House of Smiths! It is such a fun blog I couldn't help but browse for way too long! Welcome to the world baby HADLEY!

TV Stand Makeover

I recently purchased a little cabinet from GOODWILL thrift store in hopes of making it a place to put our TV on and keep all the buttons out of reach of my little girl who will soon be crawling and getting into everything.  This little unit I thought would be perfect as it has little doors that are glass so you dont have to have them open for the remotes to work.

BEFORE:

The cord was to a little light someone had installed to make it into a little display cabinet.  This had to go for the purpose I was using the cabinet for.

Note the mirror backing....that had to be changed as well.  As you will see in the photos below I covered it with some wrapping paper using modge podge.  So slick!

AFTER:

A shot of the cute wrapping paper back!

The fun details of the bottom were one of the reasons I bought this stand! It looks so cute painted!

Handles I splurged on at Home Depot for $4 each - worth it!

The end result....Fits perfectly! I love the bright and cheery colour especially.  It really livens up the room and makes me excited for spring and summer!
